Welcome! We are the Silk family: Bren and Megan, Essery, James, Elijah and Aaron. We live in Meaford, Ontario, near the shores of Georgian Bay, in colourful Grey County.
Our goal is to provide a variety of quality homestead products to our community, including seedlings, plants, honey, ferments, fruits and vegetables, and other items we produce right here on our homestead.
We are continually striving to build a simple, sustainable life for our family. We live without electricity, hand-pump our water, and grow food on our land using traditional, small-scale, human-powered practises. We aim to be good stewards of the land, promote a strong local community, and share our homestead journey with anyone who may be interested in this type of living.
Thanks for visiting, and we hope to meet you soon.
In 2019, we specialized in growing a wide variety of tomatoes - heirloom, cherry, and other rare and delicious favourites. Our tomatoes, like everything else in our garden, are grown from certified organic seeds and raised using "beyond organic" practises - no pesticides or anything unnatural whatsoever. Seeds were sown by our family, plants were grown by our family, and tomatoes were harvested by our family. Thank you to everyone who purchased tomatoes from us local markets this season, and for supporting our farm in our first season of market gardening.
We visit the following markets throughout the growing season, where we sell our family's overflow of homestead produce and products:
(Fridays from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
(Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.)
(Sundays from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.)
(Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
We would love to hear from you.
That being said, please note that we are not open to the public, other than of course for special events. This is largely due to the four little ones that run free on the farm, and the animals who follow them around. Thank you for understanding, and we hope to hear from you soon.
